The Girls Basketball Program provides young athletes in grades 3 through 8 with the opportunity to develop fundamental basketball skills, build confidence, and enjoy the benefits of team participation in a fun and supportive environment.
Teams are led by dedicated volunteer coaches who focus on teaching the fundamentals of basketball, sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth. Practices emphasize skill development, game knowledge, and preparation for competition while encouraging players of all ability levels to participate and improve.
Participants compete in a recreational league against neighboring communities, with games typically played on Saturdays throughout the season. League play allows athletes to apply the skills learned in practice while experiencing healthy competition and representing their community.
The program strives to create a positive atmosphere where players can develop their athletic abilities, build lasting friendships, and foster a lifelong appreciation for the game of basketball.

Columbus Girls Basketball Backcourt Club
The Columbus Girls Basketball Backcourt Club has been promoting and supporting girls basketball in Columbus for more than 20 years. Our mission is to expand opportunities for skill development and participation for student-athletes at every level, from elementary school through high school.
As a nonprofit organization, the Backcourt Club provides financial and organizational support to enhance the girls basketball experience. Through fundraising efforts and community support, we help fund games, tournaments, scholarships, training opportunities, equipment, and other program needs that benefit players throughout the Columbus girls basketball program.
One of our signature events is our annual fundraiser, held each year in late January or early February at Kestrel Ridge. This event brings together players, families, alumni, and community supporters to celebrate and invest in the future of girls basketball in Columbus.
The Backcourt Club is governed by a volunteer board consisting of parents of current high school players as well as representatives from each grade level. This structure ensures that the needs and interests of players across all age groups are represented and supported.
We are always looking for new members who share our passion for helping young athletes succeed both on and off the court. Whether through volunteering, fundraising, or serving on the board, there are many ways to get involved and make a positive impact on the future of Columbus girls basketball.
